Shannon + Craig's Vintage Chic Wedding

The moment I met Shannon, I had an overwhelming feeling of friendship. Shannon is the most kind hearted person ever! She is funny, she is sweet, she speaks with grace.

She kept speaking so highly of her Scottish fiance, "Craig" and I couldn't wait to meet him so that I could put a face and a personality with the name. When I finally did meet him, I understood why they were getting married. Because, honestly they are each others soulmates. They laugh together, they lean on each other for advice, they are both so laid back and they authentically care about everyone they come into contact with.

It was honestly SUCH a pleasure to be able to design and plan their wedding! Shannon and Craig, if you are reading this. I wish you a lifetime of happiness and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for trusting me with your big day!

Want to hear more about the design?

During the design and planning process, I spoke mostly to Shannon and her mom Shari. They expressed the importance of having tons of flowers and a feeling of a garden style wedding. And I think this was my favorite part, the FLOWERS!!! We dreamed up hundreds of feet of floral garland that laid down the center of each table. The head table was made of white barn wood which really plaid to the vintage feel.

Although they got married in the white barn of the venue called The Prairie By Rachel Ashwell, we made sure that the tent, which dinner was served under, was equally as gorgeous as the venue.

After the ceremony, the guest enjoyed cocktail hour outside with hors d'oeuvre and all of the great cocktails that you could imagine! Then they walked down a flower garland lined staircase that led them to the grand dinner.

The Reception took place in the barn again, when the ceremony site turned into a dance. You can imagine all of the heart felt dances, the delicious cake and the renown pie served by Royer's Pie Haven.

Some other memories and details that are fond to me were that since Craig is Scottish, they wore authentic Scottish kilts, drank Scottish whiskey and took on many other Scottish traditions. One of those traditions is that each table at the dinner have a name. In the US, we may number our tables but with the Scottish tradition, they give their tables a name and a story! Since Craig is a scientist and a Doctor, he wanted to incorporate his favorite famous scientists into the tables. I have to say that he did the majority of the leg work on these! I just made them look pretty in the end. This is a tradition I would love to see in every wedding that I do!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Porter!!! XOXO
